  • In 1853, Gail Borden patented her process for condensed milk.
  • In 1921, Florence Allen was the first woman judge to sentence a man to death.
  • In 1942, the US Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) was founded.
  • In 1948, PM David Ben-Gurion proclaimed the State of Israel. The United States was the first world nation to recognize Israel.
  • In 1973, the US Supreme court approved equal rights to women in the military.
  • In 1986, the Institute for War Documents published Anne Frank's complete diary.

  • In 1862, General Benjamin F. Butler issued "Woman's Order," that the women of New Orleans were to be treated as whores as a result of their treatment of Union soldiers.
  • In 1869, the National Woman Suffrage Association was formed.
  • In 1930, Ellen Church became the first airline stewardess, on United Airlines (San Fransisco to Cheyenne).
  • In 1970, Elizabeth Hoisington and Anna Mae Mays were named the first female US generals.
  • In 1991, Edith Cresson became France's first female premier.
